Music and television licences for your premises (SGAE and AGEDI-AIE)
Music and television licences for your premises (SGAE and AGEDI-AIE) is filed with Entidades de gestión de derechos (SGAE, AGEDI-AIE). With Managora you do it 100% online: you answer a few questions, sign a digital mandato (power of representation) and we draft, sign and file your application for you. Estimated total cost: from €149. Official tasa (government fee): A REAL RECURRING COST, never free, and it comes as two invoices. The SGAE tariff for background music in bars and restaurants is based on square metres (of the order of 26 euros a month up to 50 m2, rising by bands). AGEDI-AIE is invoiced separately. And if you also have the television on, EGEDA (audiovisual producers) may come into play. Tariffs are updated every year: we confirm the ones in force before registering you.
Switching on the television or playing background music in your bar is public communication under the law, and it triggers TWO separate payments, not one: SGAE for the authors and AGEDI-AIE for the producers and the performers. The classic mistake in the sector is believing that paying SGAE covers everything, and it does not. We register you with both and negotiate the discounts available through your trade association. Whoever waits for a claim to arrive ends up paying arrears.

Legal basis and things to bear in mind
- THERE ARE TWO LICENCES AND TWO INVOICES, NEVER ONE. The copy must never say "the SGAE licence" in the singular: SGAE collects for the authors and AGEDI-AIE for the producers and the performers. Bar owners think that paying one of them covers them, and it does not.
- IF YOU ALSO HAVE THE TELEVISION ON, EGEDA (audiovisual producers) comes into play as well. That is the third invoice nobody warns you about.
- IT IS COMPULSORY BY LAW, not optional: broadcasting a radio or television work in a place accessible to the public is public communication (art. 20.2.g of the TRLPI).
- Whoever waits for a claim to arrive pays ARREARS. Registering in good time is cheaper.
- REVIEW THE TARIFF SCHEDULE EVERY JANUARY: tariffs are updated annually. Do not publish a figure without checking the one in force.
- Verified legal framework: RDLeg 1/1996 (TRLPI) arts. 17, 20.1, 20.2.g) and 116.2.
