Two-yearly visado (revalidation) of the VTC authorisation

Two-yearly visado (revalidation) of the VTC authorisation is filed with Dirección General de Transportes de la comunidad autónoma de domiciliación. With Managora you do it 100% online: you answer a few questions, sign a digital mandato (power of representation) and we draft, sign and file your application for you. Estimated total cost: from €149. Official tasa (government fee): Regional visado tasa (official fee), which in several regions is payable PER VEHICLE. The amount is set and updated each year by your region's budget act: we confirm it against the current table before generating the payment slip, and we do not publish a single national figure because there is none. THE COST THAT CATCHES PEOPLE OUT: to be able to revalidate, ALL final financial penalties must have been paid (art. 146.5 LOTT). If you have unpaid transport fines, there is no visado.

An authorisation that is not revalidated within its deadline loses its validity AUTOMATICALLY, with no need for the administration to declare it or to warn you (art. 51.1 LOTT, Spain's land transport act). An asset worth between 48.000 and 180.000 euros on the market simply evaporates in silence. We work out your window (the cycle is two-yearly and the month depends on the last digit of your NIF), we check that you have no final unpaid penalties, which block the visado, and we file it.

Two-yearly visado (revalidation) of the VTC authorisation: how is it filed?

  1. 1From your NIF we work out the exact month in which you have to revalidate.
  2. 2We check that you have no final unpaid penalties, which block the visado.
  3. 3Payment of 149 euros. We prepare and file the visado within your window.
  4. 4If your deadline has already passed, this is not the right service for you: there is a one-year window to reinstate the authorisation, and we will tell you.

Which documents do you need?

  • NIF or CIF (tax ID) of the holder and a copy of the VTC authorisation.
  • Valid ficha técnica (technical data sheet) and permiso de circulación (registration document) for each vehicle assigned.
  • Certificates showing you are up to date with the AEAT (Spanish Tax Agency) and the Seguridad Social (Social Security).
  • Current passenger public liability insurance policy and receipt.
  • Proof of payment of any outstanding final penalties, if there are any.

Legal basis and things to bear in mind

  • THIS IS WHAT STOPS A SIX-FIGURE ASSET FROM COLLAPSING ON ITS OWN. Art. 51.1 LOTT says that an authorisation that is not revalidated within its deadline AUTOMATICALLY loses its validity, with no need for an express declaration by the administration. No letter reaches you.
  • AN HONEST QUALIFICATION: the visado is carried out by the administration of its own motion, but that does NOT mean you have nothing to do. The administration asks for your online confirmation within your month and, if you do not give it, the authorisation lapses. We will never tell you that you can simply forget about it.
  • THE REQUIREMENT THAT CATCHES PEOPLE OUT: final penalties must have been paid in order to revalidate (art. 146.5 LOTT). Many fleets discover they have unpaid fines exactly when they are about to revalidate or sell a car. Sorting that out is included in this service.
  • If the deadline has ALREADY passed, this is not the right product: there is a one-year reinstatement window (art. 42.3 ROTT).
  • Verified framework: LOTT arts. 51.1, 51.2 and 146.5; ROTT arts. 42.1, 42.2 and 42.3; DGTT Resolution of 3-12-2018 (calendar by last digit of the NIF); RDL 26/2020 art. 26 (moves the VTC cycle to even years).
