Legal basis and things to bear in mind
- Theft: a police report is COMPULSORY before requesting a duplicate. If you drive without a licence due to an unreported theft, there may be consequences.
- The provisional licence issued is valid for 3 months and allows you to drive within Spain.
- The duplicate retains the original expiry date.
- If the reason is a change of address, this is NOT a duplicate: it is a change of address (use the specific procedure, which has no tasa).
- If the reason is a change of name/sex, it requires a certificate from the Registro Civil with the registered modification.
