Legal basis and things to bear in mind

  • Important: Once the final favourable ruling is issued and the certificate of marriage capacity is delivered, it has a validity strictly limited to 6 months from its date of issue.
  • The case file requires that at least one of the spouses-to-be is registered on the empadronamiento (municipal census registration at the Ayuntamiento) within the jurisdiction of the notary or Registro Civil where it is initiated.
