Legal basis and things to bear in mind

  • Fingerprinting at the police station is compulsory and must be done in person. No digital service can replace it. We prepare everything for you so that the appointment only takes around 20 minutes of your time.
  • You can renew from 60 days before your TIE expires and up to 90 days afterwards. Beyond those 90 days you can still renew, but a penalty could be imposed on you.
  • Your passport must still be valid: the new TIE cannot last longer than your passport. If your passport expires soon, renew it first so that the new card gets its full period of validity.
