Prerequisites we also handle for you

This procedure may require documents that we also obtain. If your case needs one and you do not have it, ask us for it here and come back once you have it:

And whatever a third party provides, we arrange it

  • Traducción jurada (sworn translation) into Spanish
  • Apostilla or legalisation of a foreign document

You do not have to look for anyone: we coordinate it. As it is provided by a third party it is quoted separately and does not go inside the price of this procedure, and we tell you the amount before ordering it.

Legal basis and things to bear in mind

  • Renewal: the digital nomad permit is renewed for 2-year periods as long as the conditions under which it was granted are maintained. Filing before it expires keeps it valid until the decision; filing within the 90 days after expiry does too, although penalty proceedings may be opened. After that period it can no longer be renewed and you must start again.
  • Change of employer or conditions: any change affecting the conditions of your permit must be notified to the UGE-CE within 30 days. In our experience, the UGE-CE handles it as an initial application, with the new company's letter and its commercial registry certificate, without requiring the 3 months of relationship. Notifying it is an obligation: if it is found that the conditions are no longer met, the authorities may terminate the permit, giving reasons and after hearing you.
  • Switch from the visa to the permit: anyone who entered with the teleworking visa applies for the residence permit, of up to 3 years, within the 60 calendar days before the visa expires. If the visa expires without having applied, that route closes.
  • Conditions that are checked: as an employee, only companies based outside Spain; if self-employed, up to 20% of your activity with companies in Spain; a company with at least 1 year of real activity; remote work by telematic means; sufficient resources and Seguridad Social in order (Régimen General with the company registered, coverage certificate under a bilateral agreement, or RETA).
  • The authorities have 20 working days from electronic filing to decide and, if they do not decide within that period, the permit is deemed granted. While the decision is pending, filing extends your status in Spain.
  • If you are self-employed, we handle your VAT, your income tax (IRPF) and your quarterly bookkeeping with our Plan Autónomo, for a fixed monthly fee.
  • Family members: each family member with a permit linked to yours needs their own application, quoted separately before filing.
